SONG BACKGROUND
======================================
I wanted to look at Christmas through the eyes of children. Christmas is that magical exciting time, but for children Christmas also has a dark side.
At what other time of year would we tell our kids that a strange man will be coming into the house at night while we are asleep and that this is OK?
I think the middle eight section captures that darkness, so make sure you listen to the whole song. Like the artwork not all is as it first appears (Look closer at Santa's Sack) ;o)
I also wrote from my own experience as a parent and the chorus reflects this. It's easy to be cynical about Christmas, with all the commercialism that goes with it, but Christmas is for children, and when you re-live Christmas through the eyes of your own children you find the magic returns.
So please enjoy the song and tell your friends about this web page so they can also hear it. (Your promotion keeps my advertising costs down).
I would also like to thank all those who supported me during 2009 with my "Focal Point" project :o)
I see Tinsel and Christmas Sales,
Credit cards, winter hail,
Batteries included with last minute deals.
You see DVDs , TV shows
Robots on neon snow
Santas in grottos you trust to be real
I hear your voice as you tidy your toys
Making a space for your gifts to appear
I see your face as you gaze up to space
Keeping a look out for 9 flying Deer
I see Christmas through your eyes
I see Christmas through your eyes
Thank you for being here, thanks for another year
I want to thank you for sharing with me
I see Christmas through your eyes
The magic of Christmas Eve
Suspended disbelief
I see the truth behind joy in your face
Lying awake in bed
Wait for the man in red
to drop of your presents, and leave without trace
I recall Christmas Eve
I was small, ill at ease
worried if I had been good for a year.
I'd been told "Stay in bed
Close your eyes, do what I said"
cos Santa knows all and he might not come here
I see Christmas through your eyes
I see Christmas through your eyes
Thank you for being here, thanks for another year
I want to thank you for sharing with me.
I see Christmas through your eyes
Through a child's eyes....
Through a child's eyes....
Midnight is coming
The snows on the ground
The shadowy fingers that don't make a sound
What's that noise on the landing?
I hear it so clear
A distant echo of something quite near
There's a rustle of paper
The creek of a door
I stare at the ceiling
listen some more
I hear my heart pumping
My torch's growing dim
Got to trust mum and dad
That it's just him
When will it happen?
When will he arrive?
Please let me sleep now
I want to survive...
Through a child's eyes....
I see Christmas through your eyes
I see Christmas through your eyes
Thank you for being here, thanks for another year
I want to thank you for sharing with me
I see Christmas through your eyes
